On January 25, Gong Yongbin, deputy director of the Hubei Provincial Food and Drug Administration, and leaders of Biocity came to Wuhan Half the Sky for investigation and in-depth understanding of the company’s development. Qiu Xuewen, general manager of Wuhan Half the Sky, and relevant personnel participated in the discussion.

At the symposium, Qiu Xuewen, general manager of Wuhan Half the Sky, introduced in detail the company’s business development status in 2023 and its overall future development plan. He said that Wuhan Half the Sky has been actively responding to the call for domestic substitution of high-end medical devices. With the support of the leaders of the Provincial Food and Drug Administration and Optics Valley Biocity, it has achieved many breakthroughs in product innovation and sales performance in 2023. Supported by the two principle technologies of radio frequency and ultrasound, the company currently has seven specialist product lines, and successfully developed my country’s first 7 mm high-frequency ultrasound dual-output surgical system, and obtained the national Class III medical device registration certificate.
General Manager Qiu Xuewen said that Wuhan Half the Sky’s ultrasonic scalpel products have three major advantages: technology, cost and quality. He is full of confidence in the future of Wuhan Half the Sky. In 2024, Half the Sky will further increase investment in R&D and marketing, use the ultrasonic scalpel as a fulcrum to leverage the national tens of billions market, break the dependence on imported products, and reduce patient burden and hospital pressure.
In terms of future planning, General Manager Qiu Xuewen said that the company is committed to providing leading products and comprehensive solutions from prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation to nursing technology for 30 specialties, and promoting the process of domestic substitution of high-end medical devices.

Director Gong and his party listened carefully to our company’s summary report and provided relevant guidance on the registration and declaration of medical devices. Director Gong expressed his affirmation of Half the Sky’s R&D strength and development potential, and put forward three “plus” valuable suggestions to the company based on our company’s specific situation:
The first is to increase investment in research and development and strengthen the research and development of innovative high-end medical devices. Innovation is the only way for sustainable development of enterprises. The Provincial Food and Drug Administration encourages the production and sale of high-end medical devices in Hubei.
The second is to accelerate the pace of high-end substitution and market occupation, make full use of industrial advantages and policy support, increase marketing efforts, and increase the market share of products.
The third is to strengthen quality management. Product quality is the lifeline of an enterprise. Safety is greater than the sky and responsibility is heavier than the mountain. Medical device enterprises should strictly control product quality and implement low price and high quality.

At the end of the meeting, Director Gong emphasized that enterprise development is the common goal of both parties, and pointed out that government and enterprises should work in the same direction, resonate at the same frequency, and strengthen communication and information sharing. The Provincial Food and Drug Administration will further increase service support and spare no effort to support the development and growth of Half the Sky. He hopes that Half the Sky can make full use of policy support, take root in Hubei, focus on Wuhan, become bigger and stronger in the field of ultrasonic scalpel, and build a minimally invasive medical device brand that is the best in China!

After the meeting, Director Gong and the leaders of Biocity visited the Half the Sky exhibition hall, and the General Manager of Half the Sky demonstrated the operation of the ultrasonic scalpel.
